Hey all, well I've never taken a film course so this is especially a fun first for me. I have taken gender studies though and I've always had an interest in gender identity and performance.

hello, this is Yuta Kitajima.
I am Japanese and just transferred from Foothill College which is in Northern CA.
I have never taken any film or gender courses, and my major is Busi-Econ. But I am interested in the social gender issues, so I decided to enroll in this class.

Hi, I am Kentaro Yoh.
I am also a transfer student, so
this course is the first class in UCLA, and first class of film/ gender study for me.
However, I love to watch movies,
so even though this is the first chance to watch the queer cinema,
it seems very interesting to me.
My major is business-economics, and it sounds nothing like queer cinema, but every art or film is related to business to some extent,
so I am interested in the financial part of the queer cinema as well, because financially successfull movies are much likely to have social voice.

Hello.

My name is Jackie and I'm a full time UCRiverside student spending the quarter at UCLA to focus on LGBT studies. I am a Communications major and a Queer studies minor with a strong held belief that everyone is a little queer.

In the past year I have taken a comparative media studies class where I was exposed to Paris is Burning and an intro to lgbt studies.

The classes I'm enrolled in currently is this queer cinema class, gay literature, and a transgender rights class.

If you want to be "online friends" (if you will) you can facebook my name.

Alright, that's my background info.

Howdy
My name is Christopher Windham. Im a junior transfer student from San Bernardino Valley College, in San Bernardino. My major is Poli Sci, goin to law school ( I think ) This is my first film and my first lgbt class, so im pretty excited to study this sort of thing, especially in tandem. To be honest, i chose this class because my major was full, but I can already tell im going to enjoy the sort of openness our classroom seems to have. Anyway, enough for now, see ya in class.

Hi everybody,

My name is Jim C. I just added into this class (I know its late in the game!). I joined it because I love movies, have been watching gay films lately, and want to be more in tune with the lgbt community.
Also, if it goes through, I will be designing UCLA's LGBT newspaper, Outwrite. If anyone has any suggestions or wants to contribute, let me know! I'm sure there will be a film review section and I will more than likely draw from my experience in this class in making it.

See everyone tomorrow!

Jim
