Intro 2

Hey everybody. I'm Jim, and I'll be helping facilitate our class blog.

Before I start a discussion topic, I wanted to use this first post as an opportunity for people who didn't get a chance to introduce themselves to do so here. I'll start.

I'm a third year psychology student from Long Beach. I'm not an LGBT major/minor but am gay and like queer cinema a lot because its a nice change to see gay characters empowered through film (whether they be positive images or sinister villains). I'm not very in touch with queer culture, so here's my chance to change that!

Please post a comment with your intro, and even if you have, feel free to share more about yourself or feelings about the class.

Hey, I'm Ray and I'm a fourth (plus) Women's Studies major. I transferred here from San Francisco, and I am concertrating on Queer Studies. I haven't been to a theatre in about a year, and I don't often get praise for that in Los Angeles.

I've never really been a visual person, so I am interested to see how I will connect with the material and what analysis I can conjure up within.

Thanks!

Hey class,

I'm a 4th year WS major, possibly minoring in lgbts/urban+regional studies.
Some concepts and examples of queer art and cinema are familiar to me, yet I am excited about this course because it opens me to media I haven't seen before, and new ideas and opinions I have not encountered before.
I am a huge fan of visual art, especially as it serves a buffer zone, a supplementary and a subversive psychological process (if done in the right way, of course, depending on the cinematic /independent approach as well ) for much of the spoon-fed methodology we usually get in books or hegemonic lectures.
Looking forward to blog madness!
